Some registrars may offer hosting or other services along with the domain, while other registrars will often only give you the domain name itself without hosting. Some of the cheaper registrars will also register the domain name to themselves, and not to you! This is a tactic they use to keep you from moving to another registrar because if they own the domain, you can't transfer it. Some registrars also provide more than 2 nameservers. If you're going to register a new domain name, do it through one of the companies that have been accredited by ICANN ( http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accredited-list.html ) The difference is in service.
