Cloud computing really doesn’t come into focus until “you think about what IT always needs,” Abrams prefaced his presentation. He compared the response to the emergencing cloud technology to how many individuals felt that the Internet was just a fad when it first started, where he stressed that it is definitely “here to stay”.

Rackspace is donating the code that powers its Cloud Files and Cloud Servers public-cloud offerings to the OpenStack project.  The project will also incorporate technology that powers the NASA Nebula Cloud Platform ( http://nebula.nasa.gov ).  Rackspace and NASA plan to actively partner on joint technology development and leverage the efforts of open-source software developers worldwide
