Supreme Court appears skeptical of California video game law

Supreme Court appears skeptical of California video game law A California law that prevents the sale of violent video games to minors may end up being struck down in the US Supreme Court as justices appeared to question its constitutionality. At issue is the First Amendment right of the video game developers, which may be infringed by the application of the law. Justices suggested that if California was to ban violent video games, then it would also need to ban other violent forms of media.

Deadline: 6 September 2010 – 23:59 UTC The Affirmation of Commitments calls for a periodic review of four key ICANN objectives, namely: Ensuring accountability, transparency and the interests of global Internet users; Preserving security, stability and resiliency of the DNS; Promoting competition, consumer trust and consumer choice; WHOIS policy. In line with the Affirmation provisions, the WHOIS Policy Review (WIR) is to be objectively performed by a Review Team composed of: Volunteer Community Members representing the relevant Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees of ICANN; ICANN CEO (or designated nominee); GAC Chair (or designated nominee); Representatives of Law Enforcement Global Policy Experts; and Independent experts. The composition of this Review Team shall be jointly determined by the CEO of ICANN – Mr.

In a letter to the editor of The Independent Florida Alligator, Mike South, who describes himself as “a gun-totin’ libertarian pornographer” accuses ICM Registry of bribing “key adult-industry members and organizations for support.” South says there is no support whatsoever for a .XXX gTLD within the adult industry and questions ICM’s motives, apart from wanting to make money. South goes on to say ICM Registry “has no background and no affiliation with the very industry that this TLD would affect.” The letter goes on to say a .XXX gTLD would do nothing to control porn on the internet and says a .KIDS gTLD would be much more useful in providing a safe browsing area online for children.
