Inside one of CoreLink’s data centers (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Colocation provider Telx ( www.telx.com ) announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with data center operator CoreLink Data Centers ( www.corelink.com ) to enable colocation customers of both companies to “seamlessly expand presence in key U.S. cities.” This partnership comes less than a month after CoreLink named Rick Crutchley its vice president of global sales. “Telx is actively looking to enhance our data center footprint around the world by teaming with best-of-breed partners like CoreLink,” Eric Shepcaro, chief executive officer of Telx said in a statement.

ICANN announced that based upon the Board Resolutions at the recent Silicon Valley/San Francisco Meeting ,they adopted the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan.This plan is now posted and it’s a three-year rolling, annually updated strategic planning process. Sander Thonissen, director of EMEA service provider and hosting at HP delivering presentation (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- The first afternoon session in the Sanssouci room came from Sander Thonissen, director of EMEA service provider and hosting at HP. Delivering a presentation titled “2011: The Year the Cloud Gets Real”, Thonissen discussed 2011 as the year of exciting changes. He said these changes will be driven by three major factors, including technology being ready to deliver, the rapidly increasing and diversifying amount of service providers, and the willingness to adopt cloud services in SMB and enterprise.

Laurel Burton, vice president of marketing at ViaWest (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting and colocation provider ViaWest ( www.viawest.com ) announced on Tuesday it has named Laurel Burton vice president of marketing.  The appointment comes a month after ViaWest named Daren Castain the company’s regional vice president and general manager for the Utah market. In this role, Burton will spearhead marketing, lead generation, and branding for the company’s five state footprint, including major markets such as Denver, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Portland, Austin, and Las Vegas.  ViaWest says it is “aggressively growing both organically and through strategic acquisitions.” Since 2008, the company has added 12 data center facilities.  The hiring of Burton to lead ViaWest’s marketing efforts signals the company’s focus on continued market share expansion.

This marks the first time the company has offered colocation.
