ICANN has published a document that identifies available registrant rights and responsibilities under the 2009 Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), on a webpage that summarizes available registrant rights and responsibilities including those that arise under ICANN Consensus Policies and specifications, as they are incorporated in the RAA: www.icann.org/en/registrars/registrant-rights-responsibilities-en.htm One of the new provisions added to the 2009 RAA requires ICANN to develop in consultation with registrars a webpage that identifies available registrant rights and responsibilities. This published document is the result of initial input from a joint working group of the GNSO and the At-Large Advisory Committee and subsequent consultations with the registrars; and provides a “plain language” summary of registrant rights and responsibilities that currently exist under the 2009 RAA. As required by Section 3.15 of the RAA, ICANN will provide reasonable notice to all ICANN-accredited registrars that this webpage has been published after which, registrars will be required to provide a clearly displayed link to the webpage on any website a registrar may operate for domain name registration or renewal for its Registered Name Holders. While the requirement for registrars to link to the webpage will take place over a reasonable period of time, the page is currently available to all registrants at www.icann.org/en/registrars/registrant-rights-responsibilities-en.htm and in translated versions as shown below. Per community request the first annual review of the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process has been extended. Comments can be submitted to fast-track-review-2010@icann.org through 31 January 2011. Proposed discussion topics are provided in the below.

The GSA’s new Apps.gov initiative is designed to provide storage, virtualization, and Web hosting solutions to all levels of government in the US. (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Infrastructure services provider Eyak Technology ( www.eyaktek.com ) and its enterprise IaaS provider partner Horizon Data Center Solutions ( www.horizondcs.com ) have been awarded a five year, competitively bid contract from the US General Services Administration ( www.gsa.gov ) to provide a suite of virtualized services for the Federal Government Cloud initiative. According to EyakTek’s recent announcement, the awarded Blanket Purchase Agreement, which simplifies the task of obtaining new products and services, is “the culmination of the government’s mandate to move Federal computing to the cloud.” The BPA will let government agencies procure virtualized machines, hosting and storage, through the Apps.Gov portal, which fulfills the government’s mission to move to more efficient, less capital intensive computing solutions

The .TRAVEL registry is currently deciding a process for releasing the domain names that conform to the proposal submitted to ICANN with a likely release in September 2010. Registrars and registrants will have ample opportunity to review the terms of the program before the first names are available for registration.
