If Americans could spell, the top selling domain name for the week to 5 December could easily gone for a much higher price. The domain, color.com, sold for $350,000 through Go Daddy to easily top the Domain Name Journal sales chart, almost seven times the amount the next highest domain name sold for. Of course, “color” does not mean a lot to Brits, Aussies, Kiwis and other English speakers

There were two six-figure sales in the week to 28 November with HomeOwnersInsurance.com topping the Domain Name Journal sales list, selling for $570,000 through a private sale. Second on the list was hobbies.com, selling for $297,500 through AfternicDLS, while Sedo took out the next ten positions and 16 of the top 20

Beem.com was the week’s top selling domain name according to Domain Name Journal’s weekly list of reported sales to 21 November. Beem.com sold for $136,000 through Sedo, with Sedo taking the top four positions on the top 20 chart, ten of the top 11 (there was a tie for 10th) and 14 of the top 20. Beem.com was the only sale that made it into the six-figure mark during the week with BlackFridaySales second selling for $90,000 and then LittleAngels.com third ($50,000) while the week’s top ccTLD sale came in at fourth (AG.de (€30,000 / $40,200).

The top 3 sales are LargeMouth.com for $15,000, PainPatch.com for $14,850 and nmti.com for $12,000.

Bean.com was the top selling domain name in Domain Name Journal’s list of reported sales in the week to 19 September. Bean.com sold for $75,968 through Moniker/SnapNames

Domain name sales appear to be taking a summer hiatus with only one domain name sale topping the $100,000 mark in the two weeks to 8 August in Domain Name Journal’s list of top reported sales. The top seller in the period was huddle.com, sold for $131,400 through NameJet. A seven-way tie for nineteenth place meant that of the top 25 reported sales for the week to 8 August, 16 were sold through Sedo while six three number domains were sold by DotMedia

There were more non-.COM domain names in the weekly Domain Name Journal top 20 list in the week to 18 July than .COM names for the second consecutive week, the first time this has happened in the seven years in which DNJ has been compiling its weekly list of reported domain name sales. In both weeks there were 11 non-.COM domains and obviously nine .COM domains. And fitting in with the inroads the non.COM names are making into the sales charts, it was poker.ca with the top sale of the week, selling for $400,000 through Moniker/SnapNames.

The largest domain name sale of the year by far was the highlight of the top reported sales in the week to 20 June. Slots.com sold for $5.5 million through Moniker, easily eclipsing the previous biggest sale, dating.com, also through Moniker, which sold for $1.75 million, also in June. Slots.com was sold to Bodogbrand, the online gambling organisation.
