A chart from the company’s bi-annual Dashboard report illustrates .ORG growth (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – The Public Interest Registry (www.pir.org) announced on Wednesday that it now has more than nine million .ORG domain name registrations. According to the press release, .ORG grew 10.3 percent in 2010, making it the world’s third largest generic Top Level Domain.  “Hitting the 9 million registration mark is a testament to both .ORG’s reputation and its impact within the Internet community,” Brian Cute, CEO of .ORG, The Public Interest Registry said in a statement. “.ORG remains a community-driven platform and has become the domain of choice for organizations, individuals, and companies to channel their passion toward a shared purpose with their community.” Cute was appointed to CEO in January.

Two Men Arrested in iPad Email Security Breach

A screen capture of the iPad, taken from the Apple website (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — A San Francisco man was arrested and charged last week in Newark, New Jersey for allegedly stealing the email addresses of 120,000 Apple iPad users, according to a report by SF Appeal . Daniel Spitler, a 26-year old store detective at a San Francisco-based Borders bookstore, surrendered to FBI agents in Newark on Tuesday morning. After making an initial appearance before a federal court in Newark, Spitler was released on $50,000 bail under the condition that he does not have access to computers during his bail sentence with the exception of fulfilling his job duties, said US attorney spokeswoman Rebekah Carmichael.
