A pop-up window for fake anti-virus software, Windows Stability Center (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- Security firm WebSense ( www.websense.com ) discovered an attack last week where malware writers used website flaws to inject malicious scripts into hundreds of thousands of websites. The attack came in the form of an injected domain called LizaMoon, which WebSense says is a part of a larger attack that redirects users to a website that dupes them into downloading rogue anti-virus software called Windows Stability Center. WebSense says that LizaMoon uses SQL injection to upload malicious script to compromised websites.

The MySQL.com website, one of the domains compromised in the attack (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to several reports appearing Monday, the MySQL.com website, belonging to Oracle, was compromised over the weekend by a pair of Romania-based hackers, who published usernames and passwords for some users of the site.

Following the purchase of Sun Microsystems by Oracle last year for $7.4 billion, Oracle has decommissioned the website for Sun and so potentially could put one of the choicest domain names sup for sale – sun.com, reports IDG. Sun.com domain name could be worth between $1 and $2 million, estimated Jeff Kupietzky, CEO of Oversee.net, speaking to IDG. “At just three letters it is short and memorable,” he said, in an email interview.
