Golden Frog points out that VPN is a value-added service that can be lined up alongside traditional Internet or communications services such as wireless access, VoIP, messaging, online security and antivirus – most of which make up the fairly common menu of add-ons offered by web hosting providers. The company says VyprVPN is a VPN service that uses PPTP, L2TP/IPsec and OpenVPN protocols and NAT Firewall to provide a secure and private Internet experience without cutting into the performance experienced by the end user.

A screen shot of Verzion’s website (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- Telecommunications provider Verizon ( www.verizonbusiness.com ) announced on Monday it has closed its acquisition of cloud hosting provider Terremark Worldwide ( www.terremark.com ). According to the press release, the acquisition was completed via a short-form merger under Delaware law, eliminating the need for a Terremark shareholder vote.  Verizon first announced back in January it would acquire Terremark for $1.4 billion, which breaks down to about $19 per share. Soon after the deal was announced, some shareholders filed a class action lawsuit against Terremark that argued that the company failed to run a thorough sale process to fetch the highest offer in the acquisition

CSC says this solution addresses the challenges faced by government and commercial enterprises who are transitioning applications to the cloud. According to the press release, CloudAIM has several features to ease cloud adoption including controlling access to applications based on individual employee functions, providing automated on-boarding and off-boarding and the ability to efficiently respond to requests for detailed access logs to meet compliance requirements

i/o Data Centers’ modular data center solution, i/o ANYWHERE (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Data center operator i/o Data Centers ( www.iodatacenters.com ) announced on Tuesday that it has raised $105 million of growth capital. The investment was led by existing investor Sterling Partners and new investors managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.  According to the press release, the capital will be used to increase i/o ANYWHERE modular data center production capacity and expand i/o’s research and development programs, as well as accelerate deliver of i/o’s products and services.
