Wikileaks.org and CableGate Mirrors to be Taken Down Over DDoS Attack Fears Thursday, December 23, 2010, 12:02:41 PM The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) reported yesterday that after the whistle-blowing site Wikileaks.org was taken down; its successive mirrors are next in the firing line. Hosting provider SiteGround.com has suspended the account of a user who was mirroring some of the 250,000 leaked CableGate documents on his own website. SiteGround claimed that, by doing so, the user ‘severely’ violated its terms of use and acceptable use policy.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) earlier this month pulled the plug on the WikiLeaks web site, forcing the latter to find a new web hosting company.

In the study the researchers claim to have “confirmed that 46 websites used browser (history) sniffing to see which sites users visited before they arrived, and noted 326 sites they deemed “suspicious” in history tracking practices.”  Of the 46 sites mentioned, Namepros.com was one that the researches found to be engaging in this ‘suspicious’ browser history sniffing and “actually doing history hijacking”
