EdgeCast Networks and Web Host Media Temple Partner for Global Content Delivery Network

A screenshot of Media Temple’s website shows the ProCDN activation (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Content delivery network EdgeCast Networks ( www.edgecast.com ) and web hosting provider Media Temple ( www.mediatemple.net ) announced on Tuesday the launch of Media Temple’s ProCDN. According to the press release, the service is a no-commitment, pay-as-you-go format to accelerate website performance and availability. Media Temple says its ProCDN is part of its ProDev product line, a group of services to provide existing customers with “the most advanced hosting services in the industry.” “In a global marketplace where every millisecond counts, a single fast web server is no longer enough,” Demian Sellfors, CEO of Media Temple said in a statement

During my research into a reliable web hosting alternative I’ve discovered Serversiders.com which offers a lot of interesting information about the web hosting scene, who does what where with whom? First of all it is interesting to see that Serversiders.com itself has hidden its Whois ID behind a Domains by Proxy registration. So I’ve checked a couple of sites randomly to see where they are being hosted: Matt Mullenweg , of WordPress, interestingly uses a .tt, aTrinidad and Tobago TLD extension to have one of the shortes URL’s available.

If you visited TechCrunch Europe on Monday, it would be wise to scan your computer for malware. By Monday night, the hack attack and malware issue was resolved. But during the day, security conscious or ticked off readers tweeted things like, ” Warning! TechCrunch Europe serves up malware attack .”  Other Twitter users tweeted thing like, “Hey @ MobileCrunch & @ TechCrunch – Why is your site flagged by Chrome as having Malware?” MobileCrunch did not tweet a reply, but TechCrunch Europe acknowledged “the (annoying) malware warning”, not once, but twice
