The facility’s opening comes just a couples weeks after the Obama administration issued its 2012 federal budget proposa l where it asserted that data center consolidation and cloud computing will play a significant role in curbing IT costs.

The company says it received the order for the IceWEB storage appliance from the City of Baltimore, Mayor’s office for Information Technology. The storage appliacen will be used to support the city’s geographic information system, and will enhance the functions for the input, processing and distribution of GIS information throughout the city in support of efforts related to public safety, utility maintenance, planning, economic development and other agencies and stakeholders
