New to Web Hosting? Look at Managed Hosting

New to Web Hosting? Look at Managed Hosting

Managed hosting is a mix of both dedicated server and shared web hosting and is accompanied by a full suite of technical support, maintenance and monitoring services. This feature differentiate it from dedicated Web hosting, where customers are provided own servers but are held responsible for virtually all administrative and maintenance duties.

For websites designed to host busy e-commerce sites and dynamic, database driven Web pages managed hosting are considered best. Even for companies that lack capital or time to invest in server administration, managed server work as best. The equation for managed server is as under-

MANAGED SERVER = DEDICATED SERVER + COMPLETE SUPPORT TO SERVER ADMINISTRATION

A managed server consists of all the features of a dedicated server including administrative support.

There are many companies assigning dedicated service representative who caters to user’s needs and a handful of other accounts. They provide support in the form of proprietary control panel technology that enables the inexperienced administrator to do maintenance of site by user. Best part is, it is not required to learn complicated commands rather it is achieved through an intuitive and user-friendly point and click method.

Hosting company’s offer a supplementary suite of features and services that related to managed hosting, including application and database management, high-availability services and load balancing. These hosting companies will back up their services with performance guarantees and Service Level Agreements.

Unmanaged services, on the other hand, give the customer complete remote server administration capability and freedom. The downside to this is that unmanaged servers require a large amount of time and technical expertise, as the customer is ultimately responsible for the installation and management of the server – not the Web host. It is due to this reason only unmanaged servers are only recommended for individuals and companies with extensive server administration resources or expertise, as well as a significant amount of time available to take care of the server.

Conclusion

Now if one is just a beginner for host world, it is serious advice for him/her to consider managed server. Though it is expensive to take managed route but it is best for the inexperienced administrator as option is also there to switch over to an unmanaged service later on after gaining some expertise in server administration. Due to all of the above advantages it is worth saying, once one opts for managed host he/she might think twice of turning into an unmanaged service afterwards.

What to Look for in the Ideal VPS Web Hosting Service

What to Look for in the Ideal VPS Web Hosting Service

If you’re too big for shared hosting, but not big enough for a dedicated server, VPS hosting is made for you. You are still sharing a server with other users, but you have your own environment that they don’t have access to. What happens in the main server is split into smaller, virtual “servers”. In the end you get all of the independence and flexibility that comes with a dedicated server, without the larger price tag.

When looking for a VPS hosting company you want to make sure to be on the lookout for a few things. Some of these may be absolute necessities, and some may be completely useless. Anyway, here is a list of some of the perks that you should look for in your search for the perfect VPS Web host. Good luck, and happy hunting!

Check the Hardware
Make sure you find out from any VPS hosting company what hardware they are running. Quad core Xeon servers are some of the best around. You also want to make sure the hard drives are RAID protected. Look for RAID 5 at a minimum, but RAID 10 will be faster and more stable.

Check the software
If you don’t have your own operating system preference, it’s tough to beat CentOS 4 or 5. You should also verify that you get full root access to your VPS so that you can run or install anything that you need to, within the hosts terms of service. You also want to verify that you can host as many domains as you think you may need. Also check that they offer the control panel that you like working with. If they don’t offer the control panel you use see what they do offer and if it will fit your needs. If not you may have to move on. You should also get at least 2 dedicated IP addresses. So, make it a point to ask this very important question before you write your new Web host a check for the first month.

Don’t pay too long
You also want to be very careful if you choose to pay in advance for hosting services. Even if you get better pricing you may want to move next month, or the host may go downhill. You should always look to pay monthly so you can leave when you need to.

Make sure you do your research, but for most sites VPS hosting makes a great choice.

Godaddy Review ? A New look at quality domain registration

Godaddy Review ? A New look at quality domain registration

Godaddy is the choice of many when is comes down to buying domain names. The extremely easy to use interface makes the task of purchasing any domain name an extremely easy one and couple that with the fact that Godaddy are an extremely established and reputable company you really are on to a winner.

The prices for domain names on Godaddy are extremely competitive and you can bring the prices down even further by having a quick look on Google for ‘Godaddy voucher codes’. These codes are changing all of the time so next time you need a domain name take a look to see what voucher codes you can find.

The funny thing is, even without these codes, there are not many companies that are able to offer domain names for such competitive prices as Godaddy.

What’s more, if you decide to register a number of domain names you will be able to see at a glance all of them in the same place and you will have complete control of them all. You are able to change name servers and a variety of other tasks which is far easier than having to log into a number of different websites.

If you have never registered a domain name before the first thing to do is to go to Godaddy.com and use the search box to see if the domain name you require is available. Be sure to only put the actual name you want to register in the box, not the suffix, e.g. .com, co.uk. etc. These are chosen by clicking on the drop down menu.

So, if you want to see if mydomain.com is available simply put mydomain in the search box and choose .com in the drop down menu.

If it is available you simply go through the steps to the checkout but you must be aware that Godaddy will take every opportunity to sell you add ons along the way.

You don’t really need anything else but it is entirely up to you, you will also have the option to choose how many years you require the domain name for.

One of my favourite features of Godaddy is the ability to check if domain names are available and order in bulk. To do this you simply copy and paste a list of names into the bulk registration box, press the search button and Godaddy will run a search and then if the names are available you can go ahead and order them and what’s more you can perform this bulk search for up to 500 domain names.

If you just take the time to spend 5 minutes having a look around Godaddy I am sure you will see why it is so very popular.

Godaddy also offer other services such as hosting but I would advise that you give that a miss and just use godaddy for your domain name requirements, I can assure you that you will not regret it.

3 Things to Look Out For When Getting Domain Registration

3 Things to Look Out For When Getting Domain Registration

Domain registration has been becoming harder and harder of late, as interesting as it is, it seems that the available space on the internet has begun to shrink. While the mathematical permutations of how many domain registers and unique online names there can be are possibly limitless, there is the problem of the human overlap; where people are jostling for the same domain name. The entire .com revolution has seen a receding progress chart of late, as internet powers that be have decided to extend that into even more uniqueness. It is sort of adding another number to your telephone number so that another few million combinations can be achieved – but of course it is a little more complex than that.

When you are looking for a domain name register, you need to be aware of some technical limitations and features that you need to have on hand. One of them is how much security the domain name host is prepared to give you and with the rampant amount of hackers online, you need some security on your website, especially if you have secure information or sensitive bio data of your consumers. The last thing you need on your hand is some upstart hacker ploughing into your website and stealing all your information. Because of the nature of online transactions, residual information can be retrieved, and this includes stuff like credit card numbers, pass words and emails – things you need to keep under lock and key. Have a gander at what server they are using and the strength of the firewall that is going to back up your system.

The other thing that you need to look out for is the price versus performance. Many of the web hosting solutions out there are pretty standard fare when it comes to how much you have to pay for them, but it is always a question of you should get what you are paying for. If you just need a basic solution for your internet needs, some dot com real estate on the internet to place your pictures and detail your life in a personalised blog, then the price should be just as basic. But if it is a business solution, with an infrastructure that can complement payments, transactions and advanced software for things like customer tracking, then the server should cost quite a bit. The last thing, and the most important thing when it does come to getting a domain registration is of course the customisability of it.

Some of them seem pretty German in nature, straight to the point with zero flexibility in their packages, but people should be able to tailor their domain solutions to the type of things that they want. Of course the price will fluctuate from there, but at least the choice is there. With that, those are the three things anyone needs to look out for when getting domain registration on the internet for any type of solution – business or personal.

Look Out the Bona Fide Domain Auction

Look Out the Bona Fide Domain Auction

An investor (who I will call “Phil”) recently contacted me with a situation that arises from his successful bid at an estate auction for a single-family home. Similar to most estate auctions, the auction participants had approximately one hour only to look through the property prior to the commencement of the auction. As you can imagine, this didn’t allow for a great deal of time to inspect the property, its systems, the grounds, etc.

Upon winning the auction, Phil was handed a two-page, pre-printed agreement of sale by the auctioneer with the material terms (price, deposit monies, date of settlement) hand-written into the blanks on each page. For more details www.auction-o-matics.com

What Art Most Important Features To Look For In A Web Hosting Service?

I am new at web design, and in the process of trying to find a good web hosting service. I plan on having lots of videos and photos on my sites, and was wondering what kind of features are the most important for me to be looking for when searching for a web host. Are some servers faster than others? If so, which are the fastest? And is it better to go with a windows or linux server? Are there any other important features that I need to look for? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
