ICANN Delays New gTLDs, Again, To Consider Public Comment

ICANN has delayed, once again, the introduction of new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) at its meeting in Cartagena, Colombia. At the board meeting on Friday that traditionally concludes the week-long meeting, the board directed staff to make amendments to the Draft Applicant Guidebook based on the economic analyses (the New gTLD Economic Study Phase II Report) and the final written proposals regarding issues affecting morality and public order, and make revisions to the guidebook as appropriate comments received during the public comment period and also on comments.

Facebook to Launch “Gmail Killer” Email Tool Monday: Reports – Web Host Industry Review

The familiar Facebook login screen may soon become a destination for email users (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to several reports published this week, social networking giant Facebook is planning for the Monday launch of a web-based email service the company is referring to internally as a “Gmail killer.” In a TechCrunch story posted late Thursday night , the technology blog reported it has heard from sources that a Facebook special event scheduled for Monday will include the launch of the company’s secret Project Titan – reported to be the mail client – on which TechCrunch first reported in February. The launch, it says, will be accompanied by personal @facebook.com email addresses for users of the social networking site.
