Sedo Finds Domain Names Continue As Good Investment

Domain names continue to be a good investment with median and average sales continue to increase according to Sedo’s Q3 2010 Domain Market Study . In the quarter there were 10,085 sales, a 1.58 per cent increase from the same period a year earlier (10,070 sales), worth $24.5 million, averaging $2,033 per domain. The study found fixed-price sales accounted for 28 per cent of sales compared to five per cent a year earlier

The $13 million sale price for the sex.com domain is more than 5,000 times the average price of a domain from Sedo. (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — After placing the highest bid for the in-demand domain last month, Clover Holdings has now officially bought the domain sex.com for $13 million following the bankruptcy of former domain owner Escom ( www.escom.com ), proving yet again the adage that sex sells. Domain name firm Sedo ( www.sedo.com ), which oversaw the sale on behalf of Escom in accordance with an order issued by the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California , announced the sale Wednesday evening.

Microsoft plans colossal Patch Tuesday next week Microsoft today said it will deliver a record 16 security updates next week to patch a whopping 49 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer (IE), Office and SharePoint. Andrew Storms, director of security operations for nCircle Security, called the massive update “daunting, again.” Four of the 16 updates were tagged with Microsoft’s “critical” label, the highest threat ranking in its four-step scoring system.
