Cloud Host Citrix Acquires SaaS Firm Netviewer

A screen shot of Netviewer 5.1 (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud hosting provider Citrix Systems ( www.citrix.com ) announced on Friday it will acquire European software as a service vendor Netviewer AG ( www.netviewer.com ). Netviewer AG will become part of Citrix’s online services division, Citrix Online, and will help expand its position in the European SaaS market. Expected to close in early 2011, the acquisition will accelerate Citrix’s growth in Europe by combining two complementary companies with a “shared vision for virtual workstyles, innovation and delivering an excellent customer experience”

French web host need not shut down WikiLeaks site: judge

PARIS (AFP) – A French judge declined to force web provider OVH to shut down the WikiLeaks site, OVH said on Monday, after the government called for the whistleblower website to be kicked out of France. The legal challenge came after French Industry Minister Eric Besson called for WikiLeaks to be banned from French servers after the site took refuge there on Thursday, having been expelled from the United States

WikiLeaks taken off web after attacks – but comes back in Switzerland – Metro

The main WikiLeaks website address, wikileaks.org, became inaccessible after a US company pulled support for its domain name – drawing accusations of censorship from supporters of the whistleblowing site. Everydns, a web hosting company in California, said they took down wikileaks.org in response to the sustained distributed denial-of-service attacks targeted at it over the past week – which they said was in danger of affecting its services for other customers.

France wants WikiLeaks banned from servers – Sydney Morning Herald

AFP French Industry Minister Eric Besson has called for WikiLeaks to be banned from French servers after the whistleblower website ended up there after being kicked out of the United States. “This internet site… is apparently since Thursday partly hosted by French host OVH,” Besson wrote on Friday to the CGIET, the highest body governing the internet in France.

EveryDNS.net said it had terminated services because Wikileaks.org had come under massive cyber attacks. But Wikileaks has already reappeared using a Swiss web address
