Inside 1102 GRAND’s data center (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- To celebrate last Friday’s Earth Day, Rosendin Electric and Vantage Data Centers ( www.vantagedatacenters.com ) held the Smart Data Center Revolution , providing a tour of Vantage’s new energy-efficient data center campus. First announced last month , the event included a tour of the first of three data center buildings, presentations by David Gottfried, founder of the US Green Building Council, Fujitsu, GE Intelligent Platforms, Symantec, and VMware. Electrical contractor Rosendin Electric has been working closely with Vantage Data Centers on the design and buildthe electrical systems for the $300 million, 18-acre data center campus

Greenpeace Continues to Target Facebook in its New "Unfriend Coal" Ad – Web Host Industry Review

A video still from Greenpeace’s new TV ad asking Facebook to “unfriend coal” (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Environmental organization Greenpeace ( www.greenpeace.org ) released an ad urging social media firm Facebook ( www.facebook.com ) to “unfriend coal” power in its data centers by Earth Day on April 22. The ad will be broadcast in California Wednesday, where Greenpeace hopes to reach many of the company’s 2,000 employees in Silicon Valley, according to a blog post by the Guardian . Realistically, would be highly unlikely for Facebook to change its power source, let alone by the tight deadline set out by Greenpeace.
