Lone Iranian Hacker Claims Responsibility for SSL Breach

The sign-in page and SSL certificate for Hotmail, one of the services targeted in the attack (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to several reports published Monday, a lone Iranian hacker has claimed responsibility for the Last week’s SSL certificate hack that targeted several major online communications tools, including Hotmail, Skype, Gmail and others. The hacker reportedly backed up the claim in a post on the document-sharing site Pastebin that included names, accounts passwords and other details on how he broke into the systems of Comodo reseller InstantSSL.it, and was issued the rogue SSL certs. Following the attacks last week, there was some speculation that the attacks – which appeared to originate from a server based in Iran – were sponsored by Iran’s government, and politically motivated

US Government Want Wikileaks.org Twitter Accounts Monday, January 10, 2011, 10:02:29 AM In a bid to crack down on Wikileaks.org the US government has issued a subpoena to microblogging site Twitter.com for the personal details of the registered Wikileaks and Anonymous accounts users. In order to do so, the Government had to provide evidence that the want for such information was “”relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation” which was unsurprisingly accepted. The Government reportedly asked for the details of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, Pfc Manning who stole the cables, Dutch hacker Rop Gonggrijp and US programmer Jacob Appelbaum, both of whom have previously worked with Wikileaks and Icelandic MP Birgitta Jonsdottir.

Gawker.com User Details Found on ThePirateBay.com Monday, December 13, 2010, 11:49:06 AM Renowned online media and blogging site Gawker.com has recently found itself under attack from a group of hackers known as Gnosis who have claimed around 1.3 million email addresses and passwords from Gawker subscribers. A spokesperson from Gawker.com announced that there is “no evidence to suggest any Gawker user accounts were compromised, and passwords encrypted / not stored in plain text anyway”.
