Gmail data feed switched off says Google.com Monday, November 08, 2010, 9:50:17 AM Google have confirmed that it has switched off its Gmail data feed. Google said that the policy switch was primarily aimed at Facebook, complaining that the social network left users in a “data dead end”. Originally, like other web firms, Google allowed others get at the data it holds on users of its many services via its Application Programming Interface (API).

French Domain Name Law Considered Unconstitutional by Constitutional Court

The French Constitutional Court has declared that article L.45 of the French Electronic Communications Act, the legal framework for domain name management under .FR, is unconstitutional however it ordered that the current rules remain in place until 1 July 2011. The order was given on 6 October to AFNIC, the registry for .FR, by the French Constitutional Court who considered unconstitutional article L.45 of the French Electronic Communications Act. The order from the court includes provisions that mean past decisions and any decisions made up until 1 July cannot be challenged on the basis of its decision.

Google Wins Viacom Copyright Lawsuit Google has prevailed in the $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit brought against the company and YouTube in 2007 by Viacom. A federal judge on Wednesday granted Google’s motion for summary judgment, finding that the company had taken sufficient steps to deal with infringing content to meet the safe harbor requirements of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
