This announcement comes a day after New Zealand web hosting provider FlexiHost launched a NZ domain lookup and registration mobile app.

August 25, 2011 — UK-based cloud infrastructure provider Flexiant announced on Thursday that it has partnered with platform as a service provider Standing Cloud to launch “Standing Cloud powered by Flexiant.” The integration of Flexiant’s Extility cloud platform with Standing Cloud’s application layer will simplify the deployment and management of cloud applications, according to the press release.

August 25, 2011 — Telecommunications provider Verizon Communications announced on Thursday it has acquired cloud software developer CloudSwitch in a deal that will simplify the move to the enterprise cloud and help to increase industry adoption. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

August 17, 2011 — Cloud cost management solution provider Cloud Cruiser announced on Wednesday that it has kicked off general availability for its Cloud Cruiser cost management solution for OpenStack, offering users management and accounting tools for optimizing costs in cloud computing environments.

August 17, 2011 — Cloud hosting provider Amazon Web Services announced on Tuesday that it has launched AWS GovCloud, designed to enable US government agencies to move sensitive workloads to the cloud while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. AWS says its new region offers the same level of security as other AWS regions and supports AWS security controls like HIPAA, FISMA, FIPS 140-2, SAS 70, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS Level 1.

August 16, 2011 — Cloud security provider Gazzang announced on Tuesday that managed web hosting company FireHost will offer Gazzang ezNcrypt to its customers. FireHost recently joined the Cloud Security Alliance to evolve security measures for cloud environments.

August 8, 2011 — Steve Cumings, executive director of data center solutions at Dell, delivered a Monday afternoon session on new strategies for finding business value in the cloud, suggesting that hosts can find new value in their business and new revenue by looking at new technologies of which they might not yet be aware.
