Techies, Geeks, Puzzlers, Researchers, Lawyers: Who owns Vertical Axis, a dominant domain buyer?

Techies, Geeks, Puzzlers, Researchers, Lawyers: Who owns Vertical Axis, a dominant domain buyer?

This company is an enigma, and I am certain one of the brains on the net can help break the mystery of who owns them.

A bit of history: They have been in various internet news articles for successfully buying the domain names of products and companies and winning the right to own them, in court. And, apparently a lot of individuals have found their domains sold to that group or person when domain registrars have sometimes sold domains at auction.

The question is, who are they?
And, can they own these domains?

O.k., I admit I am not a researcher or internet savvy enough to know how to do anything more than superficial searches, but, in all of my searches, I have not been able to find out a single individual’s name associated with their company other than their lawyer’s, some geeks I have talked to have speculated that perhaps they are a registrar buying up the good and valuable names for resale. And, I have found them as having at least 2 countries other than the US as their address locations. -The only number I could find was in one of those countries, but my calls would never go through. SO I called the US wmbassy for the country it was based in and they said that they did not recognize something about the number leading them to think maybe it was a cell phone.

So, a bunch of unanswered questions, fo me, making the mystery all the more complex. Please help me solve it.

And, by the way, I don’t just have idle curiosity, they bought one of my domains that my registrar at first rold me was available for me to transfer to another registrar, which was my plan, but it never came available, and then, after the sale was done, it came to light how -auction, without my having had the chance they had pretty clearly seemed to indicate that I would.

I actually want to try to buy my domain back from these people or this person, but they haven’t answered any emails and my calls for some reason won’t go through on the overseas number they have listed.
