Bank of America appear to have bought up hundreds of domain names that relate to the bank, including those that make negative comments about executives and board members in an effort to protect the bank. On 17 December alone, there were over 300 domain names registered “that disparage BofA officials using variations on “sucks” and “blows”, including BrianMoynihanBlows.com and BrianMoynihanSucks.com, referring to the bank’s chief executive,” reports The Financial Times. The reason for registering so many domain names has come about following the WikiLeaks threat that they will release cables that are damaging to the bank.

Bank of America get rid of Wikileaks.org Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 11:54:36 AM Wikileaks.org has suffered another fatality this week when the Bank of America, one of the only establishments left willing to handle the organisations finances, wrote them off its books. The bank claimed that “Wikileaks may be engaged in activities that are […] inconsistent with our internal policies for processing payments” and have refused to process any further transactions that they believe to associated with Wikileaks. Naturally Wikileaks have not taken the dismissal lying down and took to their Twitter.com account to advise that any of their followers “who love freedom close out their accounts at Bank of America”.
