One of my friend’s bands was just signed by interscope records, and I am creating his website for him. No one really knows about it yet, as he has not released anything, which is why (I assume) that I can register the band name as a domain for only $3 a year (and I’m willing to pay up to $50 if necessary).
But lets jump the gun and say that the group really does make it, and people want to establish a fan website or whatever. Will the people who I bought the domain name from take bids from the other people in which my name will always be up for auction?
And if this would be defined in the contract/user agreement, what terms should I look for?
Thanks!
Thanks; I forgot what website it was, but I was looking at the prices earlier and when I saw that one domain was taken, next to it it said “make bid.”

Domain names never change price after they’re bought. However, there’s a chance that company raises let’s say from 3 bux to 5 bux, then YOU HAVE TOO pay it, but also you also may transfer the domain to another company and pay their low price.
FYI nobody can bid on the domain you have if you’re using it, when it expires and you don’t pay for it, then it gets into the bidding section and people will bid on it.
An advice from a web designer, if you’re willing to pay as much as 50 bux for year, i suggest you pay down payment for about 10 years (30 bux) .. and clear your mind.
Once you own it, you own it. If it would increase in price you could always switch to a lower cost provider. Check Godaddy.com
no once you buy it the price is set on what you pay at the time of purchase, then its up to you if you want to sell it on.
Tip, do not keep going back to see if its available as this puts the price up, if you want it, buy it there and then
(the computer thinks there is more than one buyer otherwise)
and do it now as this is a well established site who knows who is logged in.
