Not asking about free web hosting. I mean, how do you setup a website without using a web hosting service. Obviously they run their own website and support other peoples. There can’t just be a never ending chain of web hosts supporting each other. So there should be a way to just buy a domain and host your own website, right?
You can host your own website but it means that you have to have a server, or computer acting as a server running 24hrs a day. Also your ISP may not like you doing this and will restrict, or shutdown your connection. Another thing that you need to consider is that your upload speed is usually significantly slower than your download speed, usual speeds are around 128-384 kbps. This means that if you host a popular site the amount of time it takes for your viewers to view each page will be terribly long to the point of being a victim of it’s own success.
My advice is either use a free hosting service, with it’s downsides or pay for a professional service who can offer significant access speeds.
Do you really intend to pass such an expensive and complicated process? You should know your site would be unavailable whenever your PC is turned off, and you’re leaving yourself open to attacks. So I recommend get a reliable company to do that in return for a few dollars.

well if you want to cut out on host then to host your own domain you will need a server…all websites are hosted on servers they are always on and they store and send the data thats put in them.
though I reccomend going with http://000webhost.com
its free and they give you alot for free! you can buy your domain thru godaddy or anyone and link it to them by changing the nameservers in your control pannal…
To host your own, get a pc and install linux or windows with IIS on it. Find out if your ISP blocks port 80 (Inbound HTTP). If so, route a different port (8080) on your router to port 80 for the IP on the new PC. Buy a URL through GoDaddy, redirect the site to your router’s IP and the port you chose other than 80. Build a simple web page, have a friend test.
